Tioga Transportation Society

All members receive the Society’s newsletter WJ Telegram, published six times each year. In addition, members receive timetables, schedules, and literature outlining special events. They also receive a discount at the gift shop.

Active membership in the Society is $12 per year for individuals, and $25 per year for families. Active members are entitled to participate in the activities of the Society, to attend our monthly meetings, to vote and serve as elected officers, and to take the training classes. Active members are entitled to ride any regular Tioga Central passenger train without charge, provided that it is not completely filled with paying passengers. This privilege does not regularly apply to dinner/special trains. Active participation means serving as a volunteer for at least six days during the current operating season.

Advancement and participation in train service can be rapid or extended over a period of time. Each person is permitted to set a pace that is comfortable for him or her. All age groups are represented. Different members participate from as few as three or four days to as many as dozens of days of work each season.

MEMBERSHIP DESCRIPTIONS:

• $10, Supporting membership – Open to all members of the general public not serving as active volunteers.
• $12, Individual membership – Membership for those interested in working on Tioga Central’s trains and being an active member.
• $25, Family membership – Membership for those interested in working on Tioga Central’s trains and being an active member. Membership is good for all members of immediate family only.
• $50+, Contributing membership - Membership for those interested in supporting the Tioga Transportation Society’s efforts.
• $100, Business membership – Open to any business that wishes to support the TTS.
